Perform Like a Math Genius!

Ian G Cunliffe

Are You a Math Genius?

Have you ever wanted to be a math genius like those people on TV who can give
you the answer to 65 squared or 97 x 103 faster than you can tell someone the
time? Many people wish that they could be more confident with math but don’t
really believe that they can be successful at math, let alone perform like a
math genius.

While there are many people out there who are very, very good at math, there
is also a ‘math secret’ that many people who seem like math geniuses use, and I
would like to share it with you.

The secret is simple: you and most of the people you know have the ability to
perform like a math genius, but you may be lacking a few very simple but very
powerful ‘math tools’ that people who are smart at math use all the time.

What are math tools? Math tools are just ways about thinking about numbers.
For example, did you know that there are actually many different ways to
multiply numbers? Yes there are more methods than just the standard way that
most of us were taught in school, and some of these methods are much more
powerful and easier to use.

Don’t believe me? That’s ok… it’s good to be skeptical. Let me give you an
example of one of these methods.

A math secret for squaring numbers ending in 5.

Let’s say I asked you to find the answer to 85 squared. That’s 85 x 85… not
an easy feat to solve without using a calculator or pencil and paper… or is it?
Let’s think about it:

5 x 5 is equal to 25, right? So we know that the answer to 85 squared will
end in 25. So far so good - now, here comes the fun part!

What’s the number to the left of the 5? Easy, that’s 8. Add 1 to this number.
8 1 is equal to 9. Now take the original 8 and multiply it by 8 1. That’s
just a fancy way of saying multiply 8 by 9.

8 x 9 is equal to 72.

Now take the 72 and place it beside the 25 to get 7225. The answer to 85
squared is 7225!!

This process works for finding the answer to any squared number ending in 5,
and there are literally dozens of other equally impressive and fun math tricks
and secrets to help you perform like a genius. Once you get acquainted with some
of these little tricks you will find that even seemingly formidable math
problems can become remarkably easy. Curious to find more tips and tricks for
